Event Details
Unveiling of the mural currently being painted by local artist, Heather Reaves along with help from select members of the Center. Heather has donated her time and talents to bring our vision to life. The mural honors our military and those that served, and highlights historical milestones from our country’s 250 years, including contributions from the State of Delaware and the City of Milford.
Elements within the mural include a soaring eagle, billowing American flag, sillouettes of our military’s soldiers , the emblems of each branch of the military, fireworks, the seal of the State of Delaware, Caesar Rodney, the Blue Hen, and the 4 masted schooner, the Albert Paul which was built in Milford. Smaller Milford area inspired “Easter Eggs” planned are the ladybug, horseshoe crab, red knot and a rubber duck.
Sponsors are being sought to support this initiative which will in turn help fund a renovation to the Veterans Cove area, and allow the Center to continue its mission of providing quality services to our members, including low cost/free meals, free transportation and healthy living activities.
Several donor level options, allowing everyone to be able to afford to be part of this milestone project.
The unveiling ceremony will recognize donors, area dignitaries, the artist, staff and volunteers that contributed many hours to the mural. Refreshments will be served. Anyone wishing to contribute to the event celebration should contact either Amy Waltz or Kathy Miller at the Center.
