On June 12, 2026, history hits the road.
The 250 Ride brings Caesar Rodney’s legendary 1776 journey to life as reenactors recreate the urgent ride from Legislative Hall in Dover, Delaware, to Independence Hall in Philadelphia—the ride that helped secure Delaware’s deciding vote for American independence.
Portrayed by a historical reenactor, Caesar Rodney will begin the journey at noon on June 12 in a period-style carriage, accompanied by fellow reenactors and invited guests at key points along the route. Traveling a historically inspired path through Delaware and into Pennsylvania, the ride will include community welcome stops, moments of historical interpretation, and opportunities for photos and public engagement as the story unfolds mile by mile.
The reenactment culminates with a ceremonial arrival at Independence Hall on June 13, honoring the moment Rodney’s timely arrival broke a tie within Delaware’s delegation and helped change the course of the nation. More than a destination, the journey itself reflects the urgency, endurance, and sense of duty that defined the founding era.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a Delaware local, or simply someone who enjoys meaningful community events, this is a chance to experience history in motion—and to be part of a moment that still resonates today.
