My America is a free, national, youth-based art and civic engagement project inviting K–12 students from all 50 states and U.S. territories to help commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. Participating classrooms receive a free kit with 6-inch red, white, or blue fabric tiles, instructions, and a postage-paid return envelope. Students create an original tile using drawing, poetry, or a combination of words and illustration in response to prompts about unity, democracy, and their hopes for America’s future.
Completed tiles are mailed back and assembled into a large American flag mosaic, described as roughly half the size of a football field. The project is presented as non-political and focused on celebrating shared values and national pride.
