Delaware 250 Commemorative License Plate
More than just a commemorative design, it’s a way for Delawareans to carry their unique founding history on the road and help celebrate a once-in-a-lifetime anniversary.
Delaware 250 Children's Activity Book
The activity book focuses on Delaware’s crucial role in the American Revolution. It includes educational content about the Battle of Cooch’s Bridge (Delaware’s only Revolutionary War battle), Battell’s Tavern, where Delaware became the first state to ratify the Constitution, the contributions of diverse groups, including Black Delawareans, women, Indigenous peoples (Lenape and Nanticoke), and international allies like Spain.
Throughout its pages, children can engage with coloring pages, word searches, mazes, a true/false quiz, and a bingo card featuring Delaware historical landmarks, all designed to teach young readers about Delaware’s proud history as “The First State” and the Fightin’ Blue Hens who fought for American independence.
Delaware 250 Postcards
Postcards are available in the Revolutionary Lives: 1776 to Tomorrow exhibit gallery and at Delaware 250 outreach events across the state. Completed cards are being digitized and added to the Delaware Public Archives’ permanent collection as a record of contemporary Delaware voices during the state’s 250th anniversary commemoration
Teaching and Commemorating the U.S. Declaration of Independence
Teachers can incorporate activities like analyzing historical art, evaluating primary source documents, constructing timelines, and debating contemporary commemorations. Featured children’s books include Her Name Was Mary Katharine [Goddard] by Ella Schwartz and Rescuing the Declaration of Independence by Anna Crowley Reddin.
These lessons offer an exciting way to connect students with Delaware history while examining the enduring impact of the Declaration of Independence on American society and beyond.
